You must contact the Ethics Training Help Desk at x4357 for assistance (773-442-HELP).

All training communications must be sent exclusively via your official University account. Please check your NEIU email.

I was hired after the online training started. Do I still have to take the training?

If you started working as a full time employee after the online training started, you should have completed the paper version of the annual ethics training when you were first hired. If you did not complete the training when you were hired, please contact the person who provided your new hire orientation.

I completed the training at another institution. Why am I still receiving notices that my training is not complete?

If you completed your online ethics training using account information that was not provided by NEIU, you must reply to the messages that the Ethics Training Administrator has been sending you . Attach a copy of the completion certificate in your email so the Administrator can manually update your NEIU online ethics training account status to "completed."

I was trained on ethics six months ago when I was first hired. Do I still need to complete the online ethics training?

Yes, you must complete both. The Ethics Act requires university employees to complete, at least annually, an ethics training program conducted by their university. It also requires that new employees complete ethics training within 30 days of the commencement of employment or appointment. This training program is intended to allow you to meet your obligation to comply with those requirements.

I wasn't able to complete the online training. What do I do now?

If you were unable to complete the online training during the dates that were provided, you must schedule an appointment to complete the paper version of the training with the office of Human Resources. If you are also unable to complete the paper version of the training, you may be penalized for noncompliance. The Executive Ethics Commission (EEC) has the authority to hold administrative hearings related to employee noncompliance and assess individual fines up to $5,000 for violations of the Ethics Act. It is important employees realize fines from the EEC are independent of any disciplinary action sought internally by the university.

I never received any information regarding my account. What do I do now?

If you are currently employed as a full time employee at NEIU, please contact the office of Human Resources to ensure that your current employment status is accurate and up to date. If there are any discrepancies with your employment status, you will not receive online account information and will be required to complete a paper version of the training.

I am currently on leave from the university. Do I still need to complete the online training?

If your current employment status is anything other than "Active", then you are not required to complete the online version of the NEIU Ethics Training. Once you return from leave, you will be required to take the paper version of the training provided by the office of Human Resources.

I am currently employed with the university, but I never received a notice for the training. What should I do?

If you were receiving a paycheck at the time that the training began, please contact the office of Human Resources to ensure that your current employment status is accurate and up to date. If there are any discrepancies with your employment status, you will not receive online account information and will be required to complete a paper version of the training.

I completed my NEIU Ethics Training. Do I need to provide proof?

Please print out your completion certificate if your supervisor requires you to do so, however, the NEIU online Ethics Administrator is able to review the status of completion for all of the NEIU accounts. Once you complete the online training, you should stop receiving any reminder notices. Thank you.
